Penelope, my foster dog.
« on: September 01, 2012, 10:48:01 PM »
I just got her today. Shes about... 40lbs. Mixed. Any guesses on breed/s? Lol.

She's about 5 months. The rescue had her in a foster home, adopted her out for a month, and had her retuned. They think the adopter abused her because she's SUPER terrified. Especially of men. She does warm up quickly once she accepts you though. She's a cuddle bug and I already love this dog.

I won't venture to guess...I know I'd be more than wrong!  But she's a doll!  You say she doesn't weight that much, but those back legs are long!  And that mug and ears...what a cutie!  Hopefully she'll perk up with some good lovin'!

I was thinking boxer/Italian greyhound but that's a huge guess. Haha.

She's estimated to be around 50lbs full grown so my guess is greyhound mixed with some kind of medium dog. She definitely has the greyhound body with a different face. Lol

Her muzzel is a bit more chunky and shorter...which is why I posted that one pic to "Kip" as his was reminincent...there is something about that one pic of her with her mouth open where she really looked like a greyhound.

Gorgeous anywayz!

She is a cutie!  :thumbsup2: Havn't a clue, though I agree boxer and some kinda sighthound fit the bill pretty well, but you'll never truly know !

Our poodle also did not like men. He was not abused, but lived in an all-female house his whole life. His first 3 years or so were spent with just one woman and the other 2 were spent with us, but we're also an all female house (and we don't have male guests often). When my dad came to visit he literally did NOT stop barking for TWO WEEKS! This fear/hatred was likely brought on by some men who often hung around his first home and would bang the fence/talk roughly to get him to bark, and from there he just could not stand any men for any length of time. We have been working on it but improvement was always slow! He will tolerate men now but still won't warm up to them. (just wanting to point out that not all fear/hatred of a certain gender is abuse by the owner)

Good luck! She is cute!

I was thinking Boxer as well, she's kind of got the ears, eye expressions going on.. I also agree sight hound/hound of some sort.. Her coloring looks like my parent's dog, Sage. He (according the rescue/vet) is a border collie, jack Russel, hound type mix..
