My boys have totally DESTROYED their favorite hammock which is a large cube (all 9 boys pile in it and they're all made their own "breathing holes" that I have to patch up weekly lol) They've finally done it in for good, no more patching up is even possible, it's basically a square tatty tent lol.
Getting pretty cold here (Into the 40's) but because of my hyperthyroidism I'm very sensitive to heat so the temp's are normally around the 55-60 range in my room (where the rat's are kept) so I have been trying to find things extra cozy AND durable for the boys(and girls!). I just kind of slapped this together, there's a few things that I've already noted will need to be changed, but i'm pretty sure this is going to last a LONG while as far as hammocks go. The actually hammock itself is stuffed, stitched in a 9-square quilt. Then I sewed in 1-2" strips of flannel/fleece/jersey knit/other comfy fabrics over the whole top, then sewed in a border around two sides for a little extra support. It can be hung as a hammock, a tube, or a sling. The tube is so, SO warm and soft when hung scraps side in.
I'm going to work on a second one now that should look a lot more professional (more or less this was just made to see how it holds up and not to look pretty, lol!), and if anyone wants me to make a video of how to make it (you WILL need a machine for this!) I would be happy to oblige! It took me nearly an hour to finish it though, all those little bits of fabric had to be cut and sewed on

and I had a LOT of rows to do since it's a decently large hammock!
Lets see how long it lasts with my group of demonic chewers...
