What is up with this pup's ears?
« on: May 31, 2013, 03:21:25 PM »
This was taken from an add on craigslist a little bit ago.  Something definitely does not look right.  I'd post the whole add, but suspected BYB's get their adds flagged as fast as they can post them.  I'm just curious as to what is up with his ears.

They have been cropped.

There are different kinds of ear cropping. Diagram time~

There is a possibility he was bred by fighters or for fighting. Very short ears in fighting dogs means that there's nothing for the opponent to grab on to. This one looks like they were done recently so they're still a little swollen.

I see.  I've seen ear cropping before, but never like that.

I see it here in Lexington every once in a while. I think Short Crops are more common

A Battle Crop does not mean a dog was bred to fight, or by fighters, and the crop doesn't make it likely that this pup was. Many people just like the look and it's very very common around where I live. I personally don't like anything shorter than a long crop but to each his own.

I've seen it very very rarely so sorry about the assumption.
