Water bottle and bowl issues
« on: July 16, 2013, 08:01:07 PM »
Penny is a water bottle abuser ::) I don't know why because the water flow is just fine. She will slam, shake and pull on the bottles until they come loose and fall. I've tried both these two types of bottles and she ended up breaking to one with the spring attachment and a full bottle of water ended up all over my laminate floor.

So I tried bowls and that did not work out either.

Both Penny and LD spilt their food and water all over the floor and cage because these bowls just sit in the ring.

I just purchase these last week and while they are working great for their food, they don't work for their water. They'll drink from them but they like to splash all the water out instead.

Any suggestions of what I can use for their water? I'm out of ideas :help:

here is what I use.
http://www.amazon.com/Lixit-Fill-Water-Tank-32-Ounce/dp/B0002UL3F4/ref=sr_1_4?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1374019786&sr=1-4&keywords=lixit+32+oz

when I use the ones with the metal holders they flip them off the cage, these the holder screws to the cage and the bottle clicks tight into the holder, they can't move it or anything.

Cas, my male, is the worst about water digging. Once we gave him a dig box though, it seemed to help with the water splashing. Occassionally, he gets the cat's water bowl and will stick his paws in it and try to backward scoot it to a hidey place and make a mess. Once the novelty of the water bowl wore off, that helped too. Cas & Little Bear "dig" in the water partly because it's a clear thing and I suspect that they can't quite see the level of the water now.

The Lixit one *Kat* recommended looks super neat though! I've never tried bottles with my ferrets (something about their teeth and the bottle spout makes me concerned, I guess).

Thank you both! I plan to purchase a few of those bottles and see how it works out. They do have a dig box in their cage but Penny likes to play in water
