Wellll we actually have some good news today.  Whether it was the top incisors falling out or the trims she's received, Pele's teeth seem to be growing OUTSIDE of her mouth, which means not piercing it but just pressing on the outside of her lip.  She can still eat as her teeth grow one way and she licks out of the side of her mouth.  We *might* be able to trim every 3 weeks if Dr Munn agrees with my assessment :)

Good news!!!  Dr Munn agrees we can try for 3 weeks between trims for Miss Pele :D

Btw she's huge now...practically the size of her wee mum :D

new Pele pics :)  She has a real love for oldies...she cuddles up to them, grooms them gently, and keeps them company.  She prefers these little oldies to even her own family.  I left her out with Eagan my 38 month old boy who is more or less living on my bed :)  I had him in with some other oldies but he wasn't really happy, so back out on my bed he went to his joy.

I love Eagan and Pele. Their companionship makes for some interesting ship names too, Eagle, for example.  :hyper: :hyper:

She's lovely.  She's got a ton of oldie companions and its been really crazy at my place in the last month hence no pics.  A rescue situation was supposed to be 2 adults, 12 babies (implied they were newborn) ended up being 3 adults, a mouse who lived with them (including an adult male rat ) and 19 babies which quickly turned into 33 babies (4 back to back litters for the 2 young females).

I saw the picture of Mr. Mousie (I know, not his name... Little Rat?) but didn't know about all the rescues and babies (REALLY?!  People don't know that putting a male in with females will result in babies?  And then to give the pregnant females to someone else.  **tsk tsk**)  (BTW... The little male mouse who thinks he's a rat is so cute!!)

That a lot of ratties. They were pregnant again while still nursing:( Poor ratties, must be tough on their bodies. Are you fostering them for a rescue or just got them directly?

I picked them up directly but a wonderful rescue is going to take in any babies I need to adopt out which is wonderful.

The online ad basically said that my pet male rat and his girl companion had too many babies.  Its too hard to clean.  About 12 babies.  Come on down, bring a container and take as many as you want. Ad was for free baby rats, free adult rats.

Went there (seriously scary area at 10:30 pm...some wonderful rescue friends drove me when they heard where I was going)  and found a whole bunch of vertical type bird cages cobbled together and rats EVERYWHERE!

The guy lifted up the cages from the base (which was a coffee table) and picked up the box in the bottom..baby rats scattered everywhere onto the floor :(  It was awful!!..we were on hands and knees tryign to get babies out from under a wall radiator and under furniture.  Props to my friends husband for not batting an eye and just kept scooping up babies and tossing them at me.  I started pulling out the babies that were huddled up on the top levels and in the dim light pulled out a little black guy, looked at him and said "YOU look like a mouse" and it was him (named Gatsby).  None had names prior.  It was an insane rescue.

The 2 girls were communal nursing and the older one is most likely the tiny girls mom.  She was exhausted because she was feeding ALL that she could while heavily pregnant.  She popped and had 10 babies 2 days after I got her home. Sadly 6 died because of the communal nursing...she didn't have enough milk.  Had to force-wean the oldest, and they lived with Dad, then a weekish later the girls came out and the new males went in.  Its been a tricky balancing act and we almost lost 2 babies to a crazy accident of the 4 survivors, etc.  The bigger momma was biting iniitally but now she's very trusting.  The little girl got HUGE, and finally popped on April 1st, and Gatsby Mouse-Rat is thrilled to help out again.  :D

Whoa that's crazy. How can people be so irresponsible and careless! Jeez I hope they don't have kids or they surely will be messed up for life. They were super extra lucky you saw that ad, what are the chances. What a rescue! Keep us updated....huh...that is when you have a little free time😮

A small sleepy story line featuring Ferdy (but with a cameo of Pele  :cheeky:) ...

Ferdy loves to use rats to lie on, he puts his feet on them and sleeps with a smile on his face.  Rats get used to his little idiosyncrasy and put up with it after awhile.  He really didn't like Pele...she moved too quick, would climb on him with her sharp claws as he whines like a baby...still does but she's more respectful.  She is the perfect size to rest his chin on

*Mine*

Then she moved, and was grooming and coming out to see me :D

So he went onto his next footwarmer, little Walk About PT gal Cece...he surprised me by very gently grooming her...he's normally a rough, overly-brusque boy, no malice but no sensitivity...until now...awww

*Mine*

And I caught a big contented yawn :D

He's a very opinionated funny little bumpkin.  Things must be just so.  He will crawl up on my side or on my stomach and then use his paws and sometimes his teeth to pull my clothes away so he can get his cold paws on my nice warm skin.  Then I can feel him sigh and settle down LOL

OR I put my hand down flat on the bed while lying on my side when we go to bed, and he licks it over and over and tries to get all 4 feet on my hand, then settles down, sighs and sleeps all cuddled up.

Pele made it to 3 weeks between trims and she and Teefs are going in together to get done today.  Pele's teeth are still crazy growing but this little lady lucked out immensely.  Her lower incisors are actually growing outside her mouth now, and don't grow or cut into her lips anymore.

I got pics this morning to show you how insane it all looks...she hates this but forgave me afterwards when I told her "no more, gave her kisses and cuddles and got kisses back.
