Questions about taking rats on planes

If anyone ever flew with rats before, what it is like? Do they charge per rat? Should I get a special type of carrier?

I've never flown with rats but I don't think it's very easy or affordable in most cases.

Most airlines don't allow you to carry them with you. Some airlines allow you to ship your rats in the cargo section. They have specific requirements for travel crates and it can be hundreds of dollars. Some breeders offer shipping so if you found one of these, you can ask them how they do it.

I think Frontier is the only airline that might allow you to carry rats on the plane with you. It appears a round trip flight would cost $200 just for your rats.

It would be a one way trip, it is possible that I will be moving in a year, and I'd like to take my girls with me.
