City/State (or Province): Warren, Michigan
Vet's Name: Dr. Anderman
Clinic/Hospital Name:Warren Woods Veterinary Hospital
Address: 29157 Schoenherr , Warren MI, USA  48088
Phone Number: 586-751-3350
Web Site:

The staff at Warren Woods were very nice and treated Momma great!  They are very reasonably priced, standard office visit $40, plus price of medication.  I really liked the fact that they were able to get me in on the day that I called, no waiting list and no extra charge for a late notice appointment.  Dr. Anderman is great with rodents and diagnosed Momma perfectly.  Though I had to drive 45 minutes, it was worth it!

Austin/Pflugerville Texas
Dr. Todd Riggans
White Rock Vet Hospital
2700 West Pecan Street (aka 1825)

Best vet for rats I've found in Austin. Very knowledeable about rats and Rabbits and really does like them.  He was tearing up when he had to put one of my ratties to sleep.  The staff was all great as well and all had great things to say about my rat. One of the x-ray technicians said she'd never really been around rats before and that she was very impressed at how well behaved he was.  I highly reccomend this place.

Vet's Name: Joel Fisher
Clinic/Hospital Name: Fisher Veterinary Hospital
Address: 3700 Gresham Lake Road
Phone Number: (919) 790-0412
Web Site:

Comments: altho not as knowledgeable about the more difficult procedures as the previous two, Dr Fisher has been owned by rats, and is quite good at simple tumor removal. his prices are also quite reasonably low. plus he has a way of making you feel like your pet is his most favorite of all his clients. (it is funny watching him let a rat discover his fuzzy chest.)

Dr Fisher was my first rat vet and i was his first regular rat patient. when i started getting girls with more complicated problems, i started seeing Dr. D, but when  one of my girls needed time in an oxygen chamber with nebulized meds, they sent me to Dr Dan who i have been with ever since.

This is our vet here in the Marietta/Kennesaw/Atlanta, Georgia area. Most of my rats have visited them, included our rabbit. Our friends also see this group, and they are always listed in the Critter/Rat/Ferret magazines. If you live in the Atlanta area, especially North Metro, and looking for a vet, I highly recommend this group!! Tell them my name (msg and I'll give you my last name) when you go!! (I get discounts, it helps!!)
   here's the website:

Some of what I recall that they specialize is, aside from holistic medicine, is rats, guinnea pigs, rabbits, squirrel (flying), possum, ferret, gerbil, hamster, mouse, pig, and a couple of aviary specialists. I know there's others and I can't recall.

City/State (or Province): Nixa, Missouri
Vet's Name: Douglas A. Hardy, DVM & Lois Davis, DVM
Clinic/Hospital Name: James River Animal Hospital
Address: 1870 N. Deffer Dr.
Phone Number: (417) 725-1997
Web Site: (if applicable)

Comments: as i called around for vets in the area, almost every vet i called highly recommended James River Animal Hospital for my rats.  not only was the dr. (davis) friendly and knowledgable, but she was very open to hear my comments, questions and suggestions.  so far they've helped get two of my former boys well and are helping me get my girlies up and going again!  a vet visit is about $25 for the first rat (and $17 for each additional animal).  baytril runs about $30 and doxycycline about $35.  all in all, good experiences.
~To all my babies I had to let go...Momma will ALWAYS miss you guys; you all will forever be in my thoughts as you have left your little footprints on my heart.  I love you all so very much and miss you more than you will ever know.~

Carl Singer, DVM
36 Barnes Ct.
Hayward, CA 94544

The exam fee was $43.50 for my two. The meds were less than $15.. my total fees were $58.00 for well check and diagnosis of URI with an Rx for Trimeth-sulfa for 10 days (with extra for spillage, etc.).

Not only was he very well versed in appropriate meds for various ages, different studies regarding the benefits of spaying (which he does confidently and with very good results.. and small incisions), and very cute with my two baby girls.. but the whole staff was "oohing and cooing" over my kiddos, too. One of the techs has her own 23 at home!
